Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and results-oriented Lead Process Design Engineer to join our Eastman Corporate Engineering team. This position will work with both local and remote design teams to lead the execution of Process Engineering scope of work. As the Lead process Design Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the process engineering scope for various large capital projects during Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design phases and the project PFDs, P&IDs and HMBs and will lead key process safety design activities. This role will interface with Eastman Technical and operations organizations as well as external engineering service providers. Your expertise in process engineering principles and practices, combined with your extensive experience in the chemical industry, will be crucial in leading a project team of engineers and driving innovation in our organization.

Responsibilities:
Develop and implement project specific Process Engineering execution plan to ensure efficient and effective project execution Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including all engineering disciplines, project managers, Operations and Procurement, to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery Lead and manage the execution of Process Engineering scope of work at the selected engineering service provider in all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design) Participate in all process safety development items including all PHA-related activities including process change management/MOC and plant pre-startup safety planning Monitor and report actual progress and forecasting / check for discipline activities, including management of labor hours and delivered documents Develop, review and recommend process improvements in accordance with the project schedule and freeze dates Participate and provide input into plot layouts, 3D model reviews, PHAs and other engineering deliverable discussions Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications and technical documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes and regulations Apply industry codes and standards relevant to the chemical industry Conduct thorough reviews and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in Process Engineering with focus on the chemical industry. Minimum of 5 years of experience as lead process design engineer with work experience in large capital projects execution Ability to mentor and develop less experienced team members Good written, listening and verbal communication skills Proven experience in leading a project team of chemical engineers, with excellent leadership and communication skills Familiarity with capital stage gate process and understanding of project execution Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative and practical engineering solutions Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to Process engineering in the chemical industry Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus Open to travel as needed
