Lead Product Designer (Growth)

We have the opportunity to address many real-world challenges that can only be solved with a deep empathy for our users, diligent product & design thinking, and a strong drive to make a positive impact. How might we best support movement leaders? What resources do people who come to our site to support an issue need? How might we help people to celebrate, support and motivate others?

Change.org is searching for a Lead Product Designer (Growth) with a masterful understanding of, and passion for, user experience and product development processes to work within one of our multidisciplinary product teams. You will lead all aspects of the user experience, partnering with other product leads to conceive, design, and execute upon the strategy for your product team. 

We are looking for a designer who is great at UX, testing, processes and accessibility and has a passion for expanding our platform to mobilize hundreds of millions of people to take deeper civic action.

Key Outcomes:

Be influential in creating and developing the user experience, feeding directly into the product strategy for your product team Reduce complexity to create simple, delightful experiences for our users Create prototypes and running experiments to iteratively test your hypotheses Use and evolve our design system and guidelines, to create new features from ideas on paper to implementation Apply accessibility standards and guidelines to your designs Collaborating with product managers and engineers to create product plans and maintain product design processes

The most important skills and capabilities for the role are: 

Communicate design goals and processes clearly and concisely to other team members and stakeholders Provides constructive feedback to other designers and welcomes feedback from others Experienced in conducting research, as well as collaborating with UX researchers, to build a deeper understanding of audience behaviors Is able to generate ideas for the future as well as think tactically about how to deliver work in the present Continually seeks opportunities to develop their skills and learn from others Bonus: experience in growth stage product design

Target experience:

8+ years of design experience Can craft compelling stories that persuade team members and stakeholders to adopt their ideas. Experience mentoring other designers on design whilst welcoming feedback from others. Solid experience using evaluative and generative research methods, to build a deeper understanding of audience behaviors. Has a strong creative vision and the ability to switch easily from blue sky ideation to tactical thinking Continually seeks opportunities to develop their skills and learn from others

This is a full time role, and while we strongly prefer folks living in the US Pacific Timezone, we will consider candidates across all US time zones (including Canada). 

We’re currently able to support employees based in the following US locations: AZ, CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, MD, MA, MO, NV, NJ, NY, NC, OR, PA, RI, TX, UT, VA, WA, DC, and WI. 

Change.org is a global company, and salaries are adjusted for cost of labor in each location. The annual salary of a Lead Product Designer is $200,000 in SF/NYC, $190,000 in Austin/Boston/LA/Seattle and is $170,000 in all other US cities.  The salary for Canada is $167,500 CAD.
