Job Description Summary:
As the Lead Product Manager for our Collateral Tool, you will be responsible for creating the product vision, strategy, and objectives and driving the execution of PayPal selling and securitizing its loans to strategic investors. You will work closely with our design, engineering, program management, data, capital markets, finance, and legal teams, among other teams, to create a product roadmap and build the features and capabilities our investors (hedge funds, asset managers, pensions, endowments, financial institutions, etc.) require to purchase loans directly from PayPal. You will take ownership and responsibility scaling our loan sales – you will enable investors to purchase buy now pay later (BNPL) loans, merchant loans, and revolving credit accounts in all markets where we lend. You will also be responsible for the definition of capabilities that enable loan and borrower targeting criteria for investors (e.g. loan type, market, loan duration, credit score minimum, annual sales, etc.), for developing a flexible forward flow and spot transfer process to transfer loans to investors in exchange for their funds, and for building reporting that show what loan inventory has been purchased and what remains available for sale. Your work is critical to PayPal monetizing its loans effectively, keeping the company’s balance sheet asset light and giving us the flexibility we need to invest in our business.Job Description:
In your day to day, you will:
Meet with prospective and existing customers (investors) to understand their requirements as well as needs when buying loans from PayPal
Engage with back-up servicers, trustees, data agents and other third-parties in facilitation of sale execution and ongoing platform agreements
Partner with our capital markets team to evaluate and prioritize new opportunities, manage request intake and feature scoping
Collaborate with other product managers, engineering, design, program management, data, capital markets, finance, legal and other cross-functional stakeholders to build out and execute a product roadmap.
Create product requirements for our collateral tool product, which we use to sell and securitize loans (asset externalization)
Participate in agile ceremonies to drive the execution and launch of new features and capabilities.
Leverage A/B Testing, analytics, market research, usability studies, and competitive analysis to drive decision making and iteration
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, computer science, engineering or a related field
8+ years of product management experience
Demonstrated success creating and setting long-term product vision, strategy and objectives
Proven track record of leading cross-functional groups and delivering results in fast paced, high-growth, and matrixed environments.
Demonstrated success hyper-scaling new products and new capabilities of existing products
Ability to grasp complex business/technical concepts, user scenarios, and business drivers, address ambiguity and make informed decisions
Exceptional written, verbal, and listening communication skills and proficient communicating across a range of stakeholders (product, engineering, design, data, capital markets, finance, legal, commercial leaders, senior executives, etc.)
Strong data and analytical background
Deep empathy and appreciation for customer needs
A team player who puts people first and wants to win as a team
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced or master’s degree, esp. in finance
Prior experience working with third party financial institutions/investor management
Prior experience working with capital markets and finance teams
Prior experience executing whole loan sales and securitizations
Prior product management experience at a FinTech company, online lender or marketplace
Self-starter that works independently and learns quickly
Experience multitasking and managing multiple releases concurrently
Experience designing simple and intuitive user interfaces and processes
