Some mandatory overtime may be required, and voluntary overtime may be available. Shift hours: 7AM – 3:30 PM Monday through Friday. The Lead Production Technician coordinates activities of approximately 10 to 20 associates on an assigned production line under the direct supervision of a production manager or production supervisor. May assist on other lines if required Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures compliance for safety by placing he safety of the team members in high esteem and educates them on safety tips and procedures to adhere to during manufacturing process. Evaluates processing equipment for safety and functionality. Maintains compliance for required use of personal protective equipment. Ensures all associates work in accordance to state and federal health regulations. Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs proper pre plan setup and adjustments of machines on any and all production lines to ensure quality and production rate requirements. Recognizes the contributions of every team member and encourages them to work together, sharing ideas and maintaining good relationships in the execution of production tasks. Walks the line before start up and help during change overs and set ups. Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties as directed by the production manager or production supervisor. Studies production schedules and estimates line and worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shift, department, or work crew. Works with other departments, such as Sanitation and Maintenance, to implement improvements. Estimates, requests, and inspects work tools and materials. Maintains time and production records. Confers with supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Performs activities of workers supervised. Participates in Operational Excellence activities within the plant. Participates and communicates out necessary daily information during pre-shift meeting, as directed by production manager or production supervisor. FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates activities of 10 to 20 associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities under the direction of a production manager or production supervisor in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training associates; directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a production manager or production supervisor. Assumes supervisory responsibilities of Production Supervisor when absent. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. COMPUTER SKILLS: Must be willing and able to learn skills necessary to accurately input data into computer manufacturing systems.
