National Grid is hiring a Lead Project Manager, Electricity Capital Project Delivery for Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations

Job Purpose

The Program Manager is responsible for the operational efficiency and excellence of select portfolios of work with the Electric Distribution Processes.  As Program Manager for the underground cable replacement projects, you will manage the URD, UMCR, and OFC portfolio to ensure the work is delivered on time and mandated targets are met. The Program Manager builds internal and external relationships to improve customer satisfaction while providing visibility to the work plans.  The Program Manager enables the cost effective planning and delivery of Electric Distribution projects to achieve overall portfolio performance targets in Massachusetts.

Key Accountabilities Track, report, and forecast project financials and milestones each month. Keep internal and external departments informed of project requirements and schedules using appropriate communication methods. Collaborate with Planning and Asset Management to develop design scopes for the underground cable projects which qualify for the program based on the Company’s cable replacement strategies. Identify risks to project delivery including major permit issues or restrictions, logistical problems, cost constraints or contractual problems and take appropriate action to resolve issues. Challenge existing processes and continuously seek ways to do things better to drive greater efficiencies for the business. Work with other departments to investigate new technologies and their feasibility of success within the programs.   Build and maintain a rolling five year work plan for the specific portfolio in Primavera 6. Manage current year work plan and implement resource strategies to meet regulatory, budgetary, and jurisdictional goals for Massachusetts distribution electric portfolio. Promote teamwork and collaboration within Resource Planning and internal stakeholders. Effectively support other Program Managers and PEX initiatives as required.

 

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required Sound experience of successful project delivery and project team leadership skills. Good influencing and negotiating skills. Good communication skills. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree; Engineering or Business Management discipline preferred and 5+ years of related project management experience. Strong communication, negotiation, leadership and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to exercise sound judgement to independently solve problems and resolve conflicts.    Proficient in project and work management software, preferably Primavera P6.  Familiar with distribution line engineering, design, permitting, construction, and closeout activities. Knowledge of National Grid’s business operations, company policies and practices. Understanding of jurisdictional process and regulations. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously. Demonstrate sound judgment to independently solve problems and resolve conflicts. Analytical skill with competencies to transfer data between software systems, and ability to understand complex business reports in project management systems and other software tools.  A valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy, ability to travel within the service territory is required.    More Information

Salary - $139,000 - $163,000
