KBR is seeking an experienced Lead Publications Specialist to oversee the end-to-end content development of large, high-value proposals for government contracts across various federal and state agencies. The Lead Publications Specialist writes and leads technical, management, staffing, and/or past performance sections and volumes. Experience in conceptualizing graphics to best convey proposal/document messages and solutions is required. The successful candidate will collaborate with management and technical experts to ensure clarity of content and refine content for final production and delivery of documents.
In addition to content development, the Lead Publications Specialist tasks also include editing and proofreading our technical and management proposal content for grammar, punctuation, style, clarity, and factual correctness ensuring content distills complex technical terms into easy-to-understand proposal content and marketing materials.
This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Proposal Operations.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback to our technical writers to help them improve the quality of their writing and possess the ability to provide support within tight turnaround timelines. The Lead Publications Specialist must also have the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of diverse teams assembled based on expert needs.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
Works as part of a collaborative team to clearly articulate solutions, strategies, win themes, and discriminatorsDevelops and articulates compelling proposal content that reflects an understanding of the customer’s needs and the KBR’s solution strategyEdits technical content for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and styleEnsures all content is easy to understand and adheres to KBR and client style guidelines Incorporates approved KBR capture solutions, is compelling while remaining fully compliant with customer solicitation requirementsCollaborates with business development, capture management, and technical subject matter experts to craft persuasive, accurate, and compliant proposals.Facilitates solution strategy discussions to create a proposal that effectively highlights differentiators and win themes.Independently researches and identifies existing proposal content for applicable relevance to requirements, and interviews subject matter experts to compile compelling proposal contentProvides feedback and suggestions for improvement to technical writers Creates templates and proposal global consistency/wall of truth documents for writing teams when necessaryWrites or edits content within schedule deadlinesREQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: Must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Journalism, Engineering, Applied Science, or similar fieldsAt least 8 to 10+ years of proven work experience in a similar roleExperience with Federal Government proposal development and related Shipley trainingProven writing experience with the ability to clearly and concisely write proposal sections to convey knowledge of KBR’s mission and business objectives and how our solutions meets or exceeds requirementsAbility to take bulleted information, snippets, and rough ideas and transform them into compelling proposal narrativeMust be flexible, highly motivated, and reliableStrong computer skills and experience working with SharePoint and using Microsoft 365 productsPREFERRED/DESIRED SKILLS
APMP CertificationFamiliarity with a wide range of government agencies and contracting vehicles (e.g. IDIQs, GWACs, MACs, and BPAs)Basic Compensation:
$87,200.00 - $130,700.00
The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate’s working location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity
