LEAD QUALITY ASSURANCE SPEC (SHIPS)
Summary You will serve as a Quality Assurance Team Lead in the Quality Assurance Directorate of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH. Responsibilities You will coordinate all oversight efforts concerning the procurement, cutting, shaping, joining and assembly of a wide variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals utilized in accordance with both mil-spec and commercial standards. You will review the performance of quality assurance program elements by analyzing quality assurance data, corrective actions, defect rates, problem reports, and external audits. You will coordinate the production and test oversight efforts of Government QA personnel and certification and inspection teams, and other external entities which may be contracted to provide support to the shipbuilding program. You will coordinate all oversight efforts concerning shipboard main propulsion engines, gears, shafts and propellers, Ship's service generators, intakes, uptakes, bleed air and all other propulsion-related systems and infrastructure. You will conduct procedure evaluations of contractor's material processes. You will resolve problems which may arise during inspections, installation and tests and issue Corrective Action Requests (CARs), or other appropriate reports to prevent recurrence of these problems on follow ships/programs. You will prepare quality data evaluation metrics to assure contractors performance is measurable and quantifiable. You will investigate and evaluate technical, procedural, and manufacturing process problems that occur during the design, construction, and testing of naval ships. You will provide technical quality assessment, guidance, and consultant services to technical directorate managers and employees. You will lead and conduct audits on contractor products and processes in accordance with previously developed standardize procedures Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting quality assurance inspections, assessments, reviews, audits, or surveillance to ensure compliance with established quality controls for the maintenance, modernization, construction, or repair of surface ships or submarines.
