Job Summary
Responsible for the overall daily operation of the Radiology suite. Supervises the activities of the staff radiologic technologist. Assist in performing annual appraisals on staff/orient new employees and conduct training on radiology equipment.
Essential Job Functions
Assists in developing necessary forms, procedures, and protocols. Confers with orthopedists to determine proper imaging protocol. Confers with department manager to determine proper procedures/guidelines. Develops and implements new forms as needed for operations. Provides for the safety of patients and visitors. Oversees daily QC/preventative maintenance on equipment. Maintains records on equipment calibration/service. Reports any necessary equipment malfunction to service provider. Evaluates new products/equipment. Assists the manager in determining the value of new products/equipment to meet the needs of the department. Reviews new products/equipment on the basis of cost effectiveness. Makes recommendations for capital purchases of new equipment to department manager. Maintains or changes patient/technologist schedule to provide accessibility and high quality services. Provides proper scheduling for procedures. Prepares technologist schedule for review by department manager. Maintains department statistics and records required by federal, state, and local agencies. Assists in any necessary accreditations. Assists department manager in the development of performance improvement initiatives. Develops cost saving initiatives. Develops better patient care initiatives. Oversees training, hiring, and education. Performs annual performance appraisals on diagnostic radiology staff. Assists in interviews for diagnostic radiology positions. Orients new employees to department. Maintains continuing education for staff. Oversees PACS system and related functions. Assists PAC coordinator in maintenance functions of the PACS/CR system. Assists PACS coordinator in daily operations of PACS/CR system. Verifies correct image/patient data is maintained in PACS system. Evaluates new PACS/CR/Software/equipment. Performs all job duties of a staff radiologic technologist. Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
Completion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology Program. Three years’ experience as Registered Radiologic Technologist with credentials with ARRT Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment. Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience. Medical Terminology Functional Skills on PC and Related Software (Microsoft Office) Knowledge of basic Office Equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to work independently and in a team setting; creativity in treatment in various settings including inpatient, skilled nursing and outpatient clinics; ability to transition smoothly between various treatment settings; flexibility in scheduling. Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignmentsPreferred Qualifications
