Under the general supervision of the Clinical Operations Manager and in collaboration with the Chair, Division of Lifestyle Health, this role supports the management team with the growth and development of the dieticians and assesses the nutritional status and plans nutritional intervention and care for patients at Lifestyle Health: Weight Loss and Wellness. The interdisciplinary team (consisting of physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health providers, and registered dieticians) uses a collaborative approach to develop a health and wellness plan for adult patients. Our approach includes a comprehensive medical evaluation, nutritional counseling, and behavioral consults. The Lifestyle Health Membership provides patients access to a wide range of educational programs, cooking demos, recipes, and more.Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
1. Conducts thorough assessments of the patient’s health history, dietary habits, and weight management goals.
2. Uses tools such as dietary recalls and body composition analysis to the gather relevant data.
3. Develops personalized nutrition plans based on the patients’ health status, dietary preferences, and weight loss goals.
4. Assists patients in planning balanced meals and snacks that support their weight loss goals.
5. Monitors the patient’s progress through regular follow up appointments and adjusts nutrition plans as needed based on the patient’s progress and feedback.
6. Provides the patient resources and information that empower them to make informed decisions about their diet and lifestyle.
7. Engages in collaborative discussions with the interdisciplinary (physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health providers) team regarding patient care.
8. Participates in and presents at department meetings, dietician meetings, and case presentations.
9. Collaborates with the clinical operations manager and the membership coordinator to develop and implement educational materials and programs.
10. Conducts group education sessions on topics related to nutrition, health eating, and weight management.
11. Keeps abreast of current research, trends, and best practices in nutrition and weight management.
12. Continuously improves professional knowledge and skills through continuing education and professional development.
Lead Dietician Responsibilities
1. Identifies opportunities to improve patient programs and support services related to nutrition.
2. Acts as the subject matter expert for content and program development, coordinates nutritional content for the member content library.
3. Develops and coordinates a training plan for new dieticians. Trains dieticians according to clinic programs, policies, and procedures.
4. Offers mentorship and provides constructive feedback to other team members.
5. Assists in mandatory education, competencies, and annual evaluations.
6. Develops an agenda and facilitates monthly dietician meetings to promote best practices and foster team collaboration.
Organizational Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master’s Degree in Nutrition Science or Nutritional Education
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration required. License in the States of Massachusetts required.Licensure in the State of New Hampshire to be obtained within 3 months of hire required.Experience:
4 - 5 years’ experience in ambulatory or acute care settings, specializing in adult patient care, with at least 30% of that time focused on providing nutrition support required.1-2 years’ experience in a lead or supervisor capacity preferred.
