Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist. Master’s Degree in rehab field, healthcare, or management preferred Five or more years of previous experience as a physical therapist, occupational therapist, or speech-language pathologist preferred BLS certificationEssential Functions:
Knowledge of physical medicine, modalities, anatomy, and physiology Knowledge of disease processes and related causative factors Knowledge of benefits/values of rehabilitative medicine and rehabilitative medicine agents Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and related impact on rehabilitative medicine practice and equipment Excellent team building, coaching, and performance management skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and efficiently both verbally and in writing Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite Knowledge of rehabilitation services machine operation, maintenance, and repairsJob Responsibilities:
Financial Acumen
Assists in maintaining departmental budgets. Collaborates with department leadership for staffing review in correlation to therapist production and correction needs and budgeting. This may include timely submission of variance reports.. Understands the market and industry directionOrganizational Support
Provides leadership, support, and guidance in supporting company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Participates in the development of the strategic goals, plans, and objectives ensuring alignment with those of the organization as a whole. Must possess the ability to make decisions independently as needed. Familiar with licensure requirements for healthcare employees. Utilizes a cooperative approach to address clinician, staff, and patient concerns.Communication/Supervision of Others
Mentors departmental staff and holds them accountable for department budgets and goals. Provides leadership, support, and coaching in order for department staff to effectively perform their role for patient care. Ensures departments’ activities are in alignment with strategic initiatives. Addresses employee issues when necessary for department improvements and compliance. Performs management activities including interviewing and evaluating employees; department staffing, and scheduling. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control. Maintains medical staff rules/requirements as well as regulatory body standards.Risk Management
Practices risk management strategies in ensuring that departments are practicing safe patient care and resolving issues quickly and effectively. Ensures employees are working in a safe environment by minimizing their risk for injury or illness. Maintains and coordinates ongoing departmental inspections of equipment and physical space; makes recommendations regarding equipment utilization and needs.Development and Growth
Works with the department leadership and finance department as necessary to assist with Return on Investment (ROI) capital equipment and new services. Provides creative and innovative thought in developing and improving the department(s) and seeking efficiencies through quality methodologies. Engages in reading and seminars to ensure knowledge is relevant to the movement of healthcare in the United States (government initiatives, mandates, best practices, safety, and quality). Supports the completion of and/or performs competency evaluations and annual performance evaluations of all staff members. Reviews current trends and developments in rehabilitative medicine through current research, literature and professional organizations. Foster learning and development by creating and supporting a structure to ensure learning for staff in the interest of best practice and patient care.Patient Care
50% of position will maintain direct patient care Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of all rehabilitation services modalities Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and facility policy is followed. Provides education to staff on performance improvement, plans and organizes orientation and in-service training for department staff members. Participates in guidance and educational programs Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state and federal regulations related to physical, occupational therapy and speech language pathology.
