Lead Researcher or Scientist - Flow Cytometry (Host-Microbe Interactions)
Do you have flow cytometry experience that you would like to use while learning from experienced experts and good customer service skills? Would you like to master the operations, maintenance, and training of various flow cytometry instruments such as BD FACS Melody, BD FACS Aria, Northern Light, Apogee, Sony SH800, and CytoFlex SRT? If the answer to these questions is yes, apply for this position. We are seeking a Lead Researcher OR Scientist to join our Host-Microbe Interactions Flow Cytometry Core. The ideal applicant must have a moderate understanding of flow cytometry principles and be able to oversee, maintain, and operate our departmental flow cytometric analyzers and cell sorters and train research staff on their operation. The applicant must demonstrate cell sorting experience and possess the ability to work independently with both internal and external collaborators. This position will be under the supervision of the Director of Research Operations, and experienced flow cytometry operators will provide technical oversight and training. Preferred Skills Moderate knowledge of Flow Cytometry Good at multitasking Strong ability to work as a team Willingness to learn and implement new techniques Knowledge of BD FACS Chorus, Cytex, and Beckman Coulter software. Experience with cell sorting Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and investigators. Responsibilities: Candidate will maintain, troubleshoot, perform quality controls, operate, and ensure users follow protocol when using departmental flow cytometric equipment. These instruments include FACS Melody, Northern Light, Apogee, and CytoFlex SRT. Train new or infrequent users on proper use of these instruments, including running performance checks, data acquisition and analysis, data storage, and general maintenance. Develop standard operating procedures and ensure conditions are met for continuity. Collaborate with researchers on projects and may assist with preparing flow data for presentations or publications. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the department's goals. Scientist Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required. Minimum Experience: Seven (7) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required Five (5) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree Three (3) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhD Lead Researcher Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required Two (2) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree No experience is required with a PHD Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $86,320 - $154,960 per year for the role of Lead Researcher or Scientist - Flow Cytometry (Host-Microbe Interactions).
