Job DescriptionFunction/Responsibilities:
Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions (VWTS) is a leading provider of membrane separations and
purification technologies for water and process applications. This position is part of a global research team
with members working out of facilities in North America, Europe, and Asia. This position will support the
development of cost effective and best in class, electrodialysis devices through both piloting and modeling
of prototype designs. This position is in the Centre of Excellence for Research & Development inGuelph.
Function/Responsibilities:
Technical
● Perform in-house evaluation of prototypes devices and data analysis.
● Plan and conduct statistically meaningful in-house and field pilot experiments to characterize and
optimize devices and processes.
● Develop fundamental based and empirical models for use both in future research endeavors and
for in-house and end-user application evaluation.
● Improve and support existing products working with manufacturing, QC, marketing, and field sites.
● Travel to customer sites occasionally to support new products and process introduction.
● Report key results and general summaries to team members and management.
Project Oriented
● Lead the planning and implementation of technology projects (New Product Introduction (NPI), and
cost out and productivity programs).
● Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
● Define project tasks and resource requirements.
● Develop full scale project plans and manage project budget.
● track project deliverables using appropriate tools, to Stage gate deliverables.
● Report on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
● implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
Qualifications/Requirements:
● Master’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent required, Chemical Engineering or
Electrochemistry is preferred, Ph.D would be an asset.
● Five years industrial product development experience in water treatment, food processing,
pharmaceutical or a related field (e.g. fuel cells, batteries, etc.).
● Ability to work with global interdisciplinary teams including personnel from technology, sales, and
marketing.
● Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
● Independent, motivated self-starter who takes initiative.
● Creative, hands-on researcher.
Desired:
● Modeling experience in hydrodynamics and mass transfer as applied to electrochemistry.
● Mechanical, plumbing, and electrical working knowledge and skills to setup test apparatus.
● Experience working with ion-exchange material and membranes.
● Project management skills, PMP or equivalent experience.
● Detailed knowledge of water treatment products and technologies.
● Excellent oral and written English and presentation skills.
