Lead Residential Advisor (Boy's Dorm)
Overview Responsible for assigned personnel in the day to day supervision, counseling, health and welfare of students residing in the dormitory. Plans and manages a well-balanced residential life program for students who reside in the dormitory on a 24/7 basis. Performs daily inspections of dorm housekeeping and safety of facilities and oversees care of students provided by Residential Assistants. Responsible for reporting to the Dorm Administrator the planning and supervising the operations of residential life programs, including the health, security and safety of residents. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Child Development, Education, Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, and cultural studies or related field; no substitutions. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT An additional two years of residential life/dormitory homeliving related work. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must be certified in CPR and first aid. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of community health and social agencies and programs. Knowledge of recreational activities available in residential facilities. Knowledge of resources, treatment facilities and educational programs available. Skill in coordinating the work of others. Skill in preparing detailed reports. Skill in maintaining discipline in a residential setting. Skill in establishing rapport with residential population. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
