Lead Security Technician

Position Overview:

Olgoonik is seeking an experienced Lead Security Systems Technician to take on a key role in the installation, integration, and maintenance of complex security systems. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Lead Technician will be responsible for overseeing the team of technicians, delegating tasks, and ensuring quality control. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Installation Manager to keep projects on track, provide feedback, and ensure all team members are performing their tasks effectively. This role involves significant travel to various overseas government facilities.

 

Primary Responsibilities: Install, configure, and integrate a variety of security systems, including alarm panels, IP cameras, CCTV, access control, mass notification, and intrusion detection systems. Run, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber optic cabling for data networks, ensuring proper connectivity and compliance with industry standards. Utilize fiber optic splicers and test equipment, including multimeters, network testers, and OTDRs, for the installation and maintenance of network infrastructure. Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on security systems, network infrastructure, and related equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics to ensure proper installation and integration of systems. Collaborate on design and Material Take-Off (MTO) reviews with design engineers, project managers, and installation managers to ensure that designs adhere to technical specifications and DS standards. Collaborate closely with the Installation Manager to delegate tasks to technicians, oversee their work, and offer constructive feedback for successful project completion. Conduct quality checks on technicians' work to ensure compliance with codes and uphold the highest quality standards. Deliver real-time project updates to the Installation Manager, ensuring deadlines are met and the project stays on track. Train end users in the operation and maintenance of installed systems as needed. Adhere to safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and fellow team members. Maintain a high level of professionalism while working in US government facilities overseas, always adhering to security protocols and regulations.

 

Key Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership abilities, with experience in task delegation and team supervision. Proficient in the installation and maintenance of physical security systems, including CCTV, alarm panels, IP cameras, and mass notification systems. Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including the installation and termination of Cat6 cabling and fiber optics. Experience with fiber optic splicing and using test equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical schematics, and wiring diagrams. Familiarity with AC and low-voltage DC systems, including motor controls and relays. Competent in using hand tools, power tools, and electronic test equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, etc.). Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as a team leader.

 

Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. Technical or vocational school diploma is preferred. A two-year technical degree or military training in electronics or security systems is highly desirable. A minimum of 10 years of experience in security systems installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Previous experience working in a government or military environment is a plus.

 

 Security Clearance: Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance and be eligible to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.  Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain Secret Clearance. 

 

Work Environment: Field-based role requiring 75% travel overseas government facilities. Requires the ability to complete and maintain yearly medical clearances, with medical screenings conducted in U.S.-based facilities.
