The team

It is Finance & Risk's purpose to take a leading role in shaping and delivering the CFO, CRO and Global Financial Crime & Fraud Prevention landscape, allowing a better focus and support from Tech on CFO and CRO agendas. Reporting hierarchically to the Lead Reliability, IT Risk & Security (RIR&S) and you are part of RIR&S) management team, the Lead SRE is a critical role that manages a team of different experts with a shared purpose working on adoption and implementation of SRE practices, standards and tools within F&R, focusing on improving system reliability and resilience. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of the Finance & Risk domain . You will lead a team of SRE experts. You act as an ambassador for SRE to all stakeholders within or outside F&R through frequent interaction and alignment. You work together with the Global SRE team on developing SRE standards, practices and tools, and you take care of the adoption of these standards, practices and tools.

Key Responsibilities 

Lead a team of Site Reliability Engineering Experts, including IT Service Management - and Business Continuity Management specialists, to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of Finance & Risk  applications. 

Drive a SRE mindset and Way of Work throughout the Finance & Risk domain and ING. 

Develop and maintain the SRE team's vision, strategy, and roadmap taking into account ING’s central SRE strategy. 

Drive implementation of Preventive (design-time) processes and measure to prevent incidents (eg use of well-architected design patterns).

Drive metrics, reporting and actions to increase maturity and adherence to ING IT Processes (Incident Management (including Major Incident Management), Problem Management, Configuration Management, Change Management and Service Level Management).

Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure the reliability and scalability of our applications. 

Lead post-incident reviews to identify and implement improvements to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. 

Develop and maintain a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the SRE team. 

Given the nature of the work and access to confidential and sensitive information, the role is deemed to be ‘sensitive’. An extra security clearance is required by the Corporate Special Investigations (CSI) team to be appointed to this role. 

How to suceedProven track record and technical skills: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. 65 10+ years of experience in IT (management) roles, with relevant experience in Site Reliability Engineering. Exhibit exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a team of SRE Experts. Demonstrate a proven track record of experience with incident management processes and conducting post-incident reviews. Demonstrate a strong understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems (RHCSA and RHCE are desirable certifications). Possess proficient knowledge of Oracle DBMS and SQL. Exhibit good knowledge of at least one programming language (Python and Golang are preferred, while Java is a plus). Demonstrate expertise in Networking and IPV4 and IPV6 stacks. Possess a solid understanding of IT security principles. Demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with containers and cloud tooling. Possess knowledge of cryptography, crypto protocols, and algorithms.Demonstrate experience in using open telemetry. Possess expertise with monitoring and alerting tools, such as Prometheus and the ELK stack. Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Demonstrate strong communication-, collaboration skills, and the ability to influence others effectively. Rewards and benefits
