Location/Division Specific InformationPosition will report to Plainville, MA and support the VVS Division. At Viral Vector Services (VVS) a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific we deliver, from process development through commercial supply, the expertise, and resources vital to help clients deliver innovative gene therapies. Placed in the forefront of our leading and innovative Cell and Gene Therapy business, enabling clients to cure genetic, rare, and otherwise untreatable diseases.
THIS ROLE WILL BE A DAY SHIFT (6:00am – 2:30pm)

We are seeking a well-rounded, expert Technician who is confident in Facilities Plant Operations and Maintenance. This individual will have comparable proven experience and/or will have significant trades man experience. Uphold safety procedures and safe practices with every aspect of their duties. GMP and Utility Systems requiring Electrical/Mechanical maintenance include: Plant Steam, Clean Steam, HVAC, WFI, Compressed Gases, Waste Neutralization, Compressed Air, Fire Suppression, Electrical Generation, UPS, and Process Systems. All work will be detailed in the CMMS. Other duties include responding to equipment related alarms and participating in the rotating “On-Call” program providing 24/7 Maintenance support.
A Day in the Life:Performs Preventative, Routine, and Non-Routine Maintenance on GMP and Utilities equipment. Documents work in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Operates and monitors all Utility Systems that supply Manufacturing, Laboratories, Warehouse, and Office Space.
Serves Subject Matter Expert (SME) on specific systems as advised by Facilities Management
Supervises Utility Systems through the Building Management System (BMS)
Conducts rounds through the mechanical spaces to ensure no adverse events have occurred.
Documents all work on validated systems including equipment logs, readings, and alarm investigations.
Provides recommendations for program improvements and changes.
Responds to critical alarms for equipment systems.
Ensure contractor compliance with EHS policies and procedures, including Hot Work and Lock Out Tag Out.
Works both independently and collaboratively with equipment Responsible Engineers and Facilities Teams.
Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Performs small projects as assigned by Facilities Supervisor.
Participates in the Facilities on-call responsibilities.
Willing to Acquire Site Specific “Special Boiler Operators License”
Keys to Success: EducationHigh School Diploma, or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Facilities Engineering Preferred.
Massachusetts Journeyman Electrical License Required.
Experience2-3 years confirmed experience in related field Preferred
GMP experience preferred.
Direct experience supporting manufacturing systems within a regulated industry.
Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesSkilled in formal problem-solving techniques, and digital literacy.
Knowledge of Waste treatment and Bio-inactivation systems
Practical knowledge of GMP’s and working in an SOP environment
Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to lift 50 lbs to a height of 4 feet.
Ability to work in a FDA/EMA regulated environment
