U.S. Bank is seeking a full-time Lead Software Engineer – Backend, DevOps (Multiple openings) in Charlotte, NC. Develop Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) point of sales lending platform by analyzing business requirements and designing solutions for U.S. Bank consumer lending. Specific duties include: (1) develop scalable, low latency enterprise applications using Apache Kafka, Spark, NoSQL databases (Cassandra and MongoDB), Jenkins, Apigee, Java, and Spring Boot in a hybrid environment (AWS/Azure cloud and on premises); (2) design cloud native microservice solutions using Spring Boot, Kafka, and Kubernetes; (3) lead overall solution design and implementation of BNPL enterprise software applications; (4) use agile software development lifecycle and DevOps Principles and work in a cloud environment, including AWS; (5) perform design review, program execution and effort estimation of new feature or enhancement with product owner and enterprise architect; (6) use algorithms, data structures, architectural design patterns and best practices to resolve complex application development issues; (7) manage application release, perform analysis and resolution on production issues; (8) propose design and use performance optimization tools, including AppDynamics, for cloud native solution; (9) prepare solution design documentation using Visio, Charts and Postman; (10) encourage operational improvements, and make sound design/coding decisions keeping customer experience in the forefront; (11) manage and review the work of other engineers; and (12) provide leadership as a subject matter expert for code review, code quality and setting up guideline for the same.

Uses the following tools and technologies: Cloud platform (AWS, Azure), Apache Kafka, Spark, NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB), Java, Spring Boot Microservices, Kubernetes, Rancher, Jenkins, CI/CD, Maven, Apigee, AppDynamics, Quantum, Git, Splunk, Visio, Charts, Postman, agile methodologies, DevOps Principles, and NodeJS.

The position supervises up to 3 professionals (software engineers).

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, and 5 years related (progressive, post-baccalaureate) experience in a related software engineer or consultant position.

Required Skills/Experience:
Must also have 60 months of experience with each of the following: (1) developing scalable, low latency enterprise applications using Apache Kafka, Spark, NoSQL databases (Cassandra and MongoDB), Jenkins, Apigee, Java, and Spring Boot; (2) designing cloud native microservice solutions using Spring Boot, Kafka, and Kubernetes; (3) using agile software development lifecycle and DevOps Principles and working in a cloud environment, including AWS; (4) preparing solution design documentation using Visio, Charts and Postman; and (5) using performance optimization tools, including AppDynamics. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.
