Media Engineering is an innovative organization that is focused on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers around the world, powered by exceptional technology. This strategic work requires streamlining and repurposing technology across different business and distribution channels – including streaming, linear, and theatrical – so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.
Live and Linear Tooling Team (LILOX)
This team is responsible for the management of Live and Linear airings across the D+ and Hulu spaces. This means ingesting airings as CNF from Metal, managing linear schedules to ensure no gaps or overlaps between airings on a single channel, contract resolution for blackout or features such as replay/lookback, as well as tools for the management of airings, live events, and stream health and fallback logic.
Responsibilities
Own and contribute to engineering solutioning of complex model scoring, quality scoring and model deployment, including road mapping with an emphasis on ensuring high quality engineering processes, sufficient business impact and scalability across all practices.
Design and build robust software applications, utilizing software engineering and machine learning expertise to deliver high performance solutions.
Craft web applications specific to the managing of live and linear scheduling for the DTC services
Prioritize tasks within a project to deliver high value initiatives, while anticipating and mitigating potential risk wherever possible.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and engineering, to identify opportunities, business impact and technical requirements.
Act in people supervisory capacity and serve as a technical leader, setting best practices and leading architectural discussions within the team.
Mentor, empower, and provide career growth opportunities for team members.
Manage AWS infrastructure supporting the EPG and scheduling ecosystems
Work on improving system scale and throughput for handling high concurrency
Contribute to a culture of collaboration and innovation
Provide on-call rotational support as needed
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent experience
7+ years of software development experience and proficiency in Java and AWS technologies and cloud infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
Experience integrating media players into web applications
Solid understanding of web accessibility fundamentals.
Strong knowledge to web standards and new technologies.
Understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and threading/concurrency
Understanding of source control concepts and systems, CI/CD pipelines and exposure to Git
Experience with build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins and Docker. Experience with messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, etc.)

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $156,292 to $209,660 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $149,240 to $200,200; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $163,426 to $219,230 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job Posting Segment:
