Lead Software Engineer - Software Defined Infrastructure

As a Lead Software Engineer - Software Defined Infrastructure at JPMorgan Chase within the Cloud Foundational Services team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications. You will build a technologist friendly next generation, segmented, Software Defined Network and Private Cloud Foundational Infrastructure.  You'll join a collaborative multi-disciplinary team is composed of mission oriented Product Managers, Engineers, Solution Architects, and Technical Program Managers.  

Job responsibilities

Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software  Development Life Cycle Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect Applies deep technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to analyze complex data/systems, anticipate issues, and mitigate risks Works with other Engineering teams and platforms to architect and rapidly iterate on designs, patterns, or changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes Solves problems, not deliver fixes and provides technical guidance and strategic direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability Advanced in one or more programming language(s) Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.) Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight Practical cloud native experience Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field Advanced knowledge of Reliability Engineering, testing automation, one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, etc.), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, etc), Software Defined Networks & Network Security domain knowledge including VNFs, CNFs, CNIs (Cilium, OVH, Calico, etc), SASE, Micro and Macro Segmentation/Zero Trust; and other infrastructure technologies (e.g., hardware, databases,  storage, identity, cloud infrastructure) Hyper-scaling in a enterprise cloud environment
 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Experience with secure coding, AppSec, threat modeling, code testing, third party cyber security controls / testing, threat / risk assessment, vulnerabilities/weaknesses, and penetration testing (for Security Engineers) Network domain / engineering experience with underlay and overlay topologies at scale.  Experience with Policy as code frameworks / tooling (OPA, Kyverno, etc) Experience to rapidly evolving start up style organizations within a large regulated firm
