Lead Sommelier

Your Journey
Assist in administering the sale of beverages in outlet, lounge, and banquet functions, as well as teaching and mentoring bartenders, servers, and other associates involved in the sale of alcoholic beverages
Curate and maintain an extensive wine list that reflects the style and concept of the establishment, including a diverse selection of varietals, regions, and price points.
Source and procure high-quality wines from reputable distributors, wineries, and importers, considering factors such as quality, value, and market trends.
Monitor inventory levels, track wine sales, and manage cellar storage to ensure optimal stock levels and rotation.
Educate associates about wine regions, grape varietals, flavor profiles, and food pairings through training sessions, tastings, and educational materials.
Conduct staff training on wine service standards, including proper decanting, pouring, and presentation techniques.
Conduct regular inventory audits, monitor wine aging, and track cellar rotation to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
Implement procedures for wine inventory control, ordering, and receiving, adhering to budgetary constraints and cost targets.
Guide guests through the wine list, offering detailed descriptions and recommendations based on their preferences and menu selections.
Plan, organize, and execute special wine events, tastings, and pairing dinners to showcase featured wines and promote wine appreciation among guests.
Work with restaurant management to oversee beverage costs and pricing
Maintain wine and cocktail lists with other sommeliers, bartenders, and beverage managers
Attend daily pre-shift meeting
Deliver on guests’ expectations and have the desire to create WOW moments
Perform additional duties as assigned that may be outside of the normal scope of duties, based on business needs
About You
You are passionate about spirits, wine, and food
You are personable and love engaging with guests
You are open to learning, developing, and growing both yourself, personally, and helping others do the same
You are trustworthy and have integrity
Must Haves
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
Ability to collaborate in a team environment
Basic communication skills
Food and beverage supervisory experience, a plus
Previous bartending experience preferred
Prior micros or other systems experience, a plus
Certificate of completion from the Guild of Sommeliers, a plus
Luxury hotel experience, a plus

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and exercise mobility for extended periods of time during your scheduled shift
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and for extended periods during the shift
