Lead SQL Data Engineer

Note: This position will follow our hybrid work model, we expect the selected candidate to be in the office 10-12 days per month at the St. Petersburg, FL Corporate Office location.

Job Summary:
The Lead Data Engineer will join a team dedicated to addressing legal and regulatory inquiries. This role is crucial in transforming data into actionable information, insights, and ultimately informed decisions. The Lead Data Engineer will demonstrate expertise in the field, integrating domain knowledge while adhering to financial services standards and practices. Acting as the primary contact for complex or escalated issues, this individual may also provide guidance and direction to team members. They will leverage specialized business acumen and technical skills to deliver significant projects that span multiple IT departments and business units, impacting the enterprise as a whole. Additionally, they will make judgments and recommendations based on thorough data analysis and interpretation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Analyze data and interpret results using various techniques.
• Develop and implement data collection methods to optimize query efficiency and enhance data quality.
• Acquire data from primary and secondary sources, maintaining proprietary databases and systems.
• Identify and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
• Clean and filter data, reviewing and optimizing SQL code to ensure performance and accuracy.
• Profile data sources using SQL and other discovery tools to support data quality analysis and business intelligence efforts.
• Create detailed business requirements for both functional (e.g., business processes, rules) and non-functional (e.g., data, security) capabilities.
• Collaborate with management to prioritize business and information needs.
• Identify and define new process improvement opportunities.
• Work with team members to develop project schedules, reports, and documentation.
• Act as project lead on small to medium-sized projects, providing direction to team members as needed.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Experience with any Database Platforms; SQL, Oracle, AWS Redshift Experience is a plus.
• Experience in SQL tuning, tuning ETL solutions, physical optimization of databases.
• Ability to collaborate with our business partners to understand and implement their requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build consensus across teams.
• Strong critical thinking and ability to think out-of-the box.
• Self-motivated and able to perform under pressure.
• Identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions.
• Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
• Use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; recommend or take action that is consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences.
• Demonstrate a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; remains current with developments and trends in areas of expertise.
• Develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
• Make internal and external clients and their needs a primary focus of actions; develop and sustain productive client relationships.
• Occasionally work a non-standard shift including nights and/or weekends and/or have on-call responsibilities.


Education/Previous Experience
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or related degree and five (5) years of relevant experience or a combination of education, training and experience approved by HR.
