National Grid is hiring a Lead Strategic Risk Analyst. The successful candidate can be located in either our Brooklyn, NY or Waltham, MA office.

Job Purpose

National Grid Ventures (NGV) is at the forefront of the energy transition. We operate across the UK, Europe and the US, developing, operating, and investing in large-scale clean energy infrastructure. We’re helping to accelerate society’s drive towards net zero while maintaining security of supply today. As a Lead risk analyst within the Asset Development team of NGV US Northeast, you will support risk and planning activities for new competitive transmission opportunities and other projects within the portfolio. The Risk Management team is responsible for ensuring critical risks, mitigations and decision points are identified, anticipated, and presented to executive leadership to produce better outcomes. This role is a unique opportunity to work with a highly dynamic, commercially driven team; to interact with and influence c-suite level decision makers, identify and solve complex challenges facing the energy sector, and enable large-scale transmission developments to move forward. This role reports to the Strategic Risk Manager. 

Key Accountabilities

The Risk Management team is seeking strategic thinkers and self-starters with strong analytical, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills. Main accountabilities include: 
•    Conduct internal stakeholder interviews to identify progress or risks against strategic objectives and document findings on an on-going basis
•    Develop quantitative analysis to explain progress against strategic objectives and identify emerging risks
•    Develop and manage project risk registers for early-stage opportunities
•    Partner with Financial Modeling team to develop risk impact visualizations and design executive facing presentations
•    Help identify top risks and work with manager to develop management recommendations
•    Design and contribute to executive-level communication materials including PowerPoint presentations and written reports
•    Facilitate workshops and challenge sessions by coordinating, documenting, and structuring discussions
•    Engage with internal stakeholders to track progress on risk resolution activities and support advancement of objectives
•    Support technical teams on delivery activities, further producing education on technical delivery risks for supply chain, engineering, or commercial groups

Qualifications

•    Minimum: Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience
•    A degree in Engineering, construction management, or project management preferred
•    Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and tools specific to large capital projects
•    Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with ability to think strategically and make informed decision
•    Experience in quantitative risk assessment techniques and tools, such as Monte Carlo simulations and decision tree analysis
•    Ability to juggle multiple high priority tasks, have strong prioritization and organizational skills 
•    Ability to work and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
•    Knowledge of US power industry structures, policies, regulations & market fundamentals
•    Familiarity with recent trends in conventional generation, offshore wind, energy storage, transmission & distributed generation
•    Experience developing presentation materials for an executive audience

Salary

$133,000- $156,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
