Lead Structural Engineer

Responsibilities The Lead Structural Engineer is responsible for structural analysis of existing communication structures (including guyed, self-supporting, monopoles, mounts, rigging plans, rooftops, platform designs, site compounds and their foundations). This role is for our wireless team. Industry Experience is a must. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Review requests for engineering services to determine that adequate information is provided to complete service. Review tower structures and foundations for existing, proposed and reserved tenant configurations. Review of mount analysis, rigging plans, construction drawings and pre/post inspection reports. Conduct periodic site visits to ensure to proper implementation of engineering designs. Work with existing processes to correctly open analysis projects. Perform analyses on projects that are unique and of high complexity using hand calculations, structural analysis software and other accepted methods. Assist in design of modifications for telecommunication infrastructure reinforcing, extensions and foundations. Provide leadership on major upgrade projects. Contribute to new designs and techniques which are of material significance to solving problems experienced within the Department. Provide direction and training to less experienced engineers. Work with Designer staff on the development of modification drawings and check accuracy of modification drawings. Ensure accurate project status reporting to facilitate accurate customer and sales reporting. Adhere to applicable Quality Control procedures. Generate required engineering reports. Answer structure-related inquiries from internal and external customers. Complete specialized engineering assignments requiring complex calculations. Remain aware of new technical methods and development related to tower engineering. Qualifications Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field required, Master's degree preferred Professional Engineer ("PE") license required. Ability to become licensed as a PE in multiple states via reciprocity strongly preferred. Structural Engineer ("SE") license preferred. National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveyors ("NCEES") certification strongly preferred. 10+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry 15+ years of experience in the field of engineering 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD required Must have a working knowledge of TIA/EIA-222 code and other relevant specifications strongly required. Must have a working knowledge of structural analysis software and tower structures and design methods. Active member of professional organization or technical society preferred. Must have a working knowledge of structural components and design methods. Customer Service - Responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve partnership Ability to work with functional groups and different level of employees throughout the MasTec Network Solutions organization to effectively and professionally achieve business results. Ability to develop and produce structural modification drawings and be accurate and detail oriented. Proficient in computer software programs, including AutoCAD and the Microsoft office suites Communication Skills - Excellent communication skills; speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; demonstrates group presentation skills Planning/Organizing - Excellent time management; organizational; plans work activities; sets goals and objectives; develops realistic action plans; completes Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; keeps commitments Must be able to work independently and lead less experienced Structural engineers in performing their daily tasks Hard work pays off.
