Lead Structural/Mechanical Engineer

The Lead Structural/Mechanical Engineer will lead and oversee the engineering department for a specialty manufacturing company, driving excellence in structural, mechanical, and electrical design while ensuring all projects meet quality standards, timeline requirements, and client specifications. This role balances technical expertise with managerial responsibilities to optimize engineering operations and support business growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES Analyze client specifications and project documentation to translate requirements into actionable design plans Direct structural analysis and design for specialized industrial systems, incorporating mechanical and electrical components Lead and develop a team of engineers, drafters, and technical staff to deliver accurate, timely project documentation Synchronize engineering activities with manufacturing operations to optimize production flow Collaborate with installation teams to enhance field efficiency while maintaining safety and quality standards Troubleshoot technical challenges that might impact project timelines or deliverables Provide technical expertise to support business development and estimation processes Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, contractors, and external engineering partners Manage departmental resources to meet budgetary requirements while delivering high-quality outputs Implement quality control processes for all engineering deliverables Attend occasional off-site meetings and field visits as needed for project success REQUIREMENTS PE license with BS in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering 5+ years engineering experience after obtaining PE license Knowledge of dynamic steel structures and mechanical/electrical systems Manufacturing and construction background preferred Skills in AutoCAD, structural analysis software, and Microsoft Office Knowledge of engineering codes (ASCE7, AISC, IBC) Team leadership experience Project management abilities Strong communication skills Problem-solving mindset Willing to travel occasionally to job sites
