This role is responsible for systems and risk engineering across multiple product portfolios as a member of a multidisciplinary New Product Development (NPD) team. This position will understand and define the customer needs; product functionality and performance requirements; product architecture, constraints, and trade-offs; design and interface requirements, of new products being developed.
TheLead Systems Engineerwill provide leadership to the engineering team members on the overall design of the final product and is responsible for all requirements management activities (including risk management/analysis). Analyze and manage system complexity and risk and determine how to measure whether the deployed system fulfills defined design inputs, verifying and/or validation functionality in accordance with intent. This position is for someone who is goal driven and enjoys working in a dedicated cross-functional team environment and will have responsibility for providing technical design oversight. The Lead Systems Engineer will be accountable for the translation of business and customer needs into design requirements, ensuring traceability is maintained throughout the development cycle.
Key Tasks
-Work with upstream partners in Marketing and Scientific and Medical Affairs to refine excellent user needs statements, setting the foundation for validation activities.
-Work with downstream partners in Product Development, facilitating the risk management process for new product development as well as existing products
-Work with downstream partners in Product Development and Regulatory to draft high quality requirement sets, setting the foundation for verification activities for new product development
-Work with downstream partners in Test to define verification test strategy
-Ensure traceability throughout a project from User Needs through Design Outputs and Test Results
-Performing other Systems Engineering tasks as necessary.

Your Background
-Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline
-7+ years of engineering experience.
-3+ years of experience leading technical teams (indirectly).
-Applied knowledge of Systems Methodology.
-Knowledge in ISO 14971 Application of Risk Management to Medical Devices.
-Demonstrated ability to communicate and negotiate with a diverse group of cross-functional stakeholders in Marketing, Product -Development, QA/RC, Sourcing, and Operations.
-Confident decision maker, with a proven ability to negotiate and influence others.
-Well-versed in Medical Device Design Controls, applied to Class I devices.
-Able to write clear, concise, and verifiable requirements.
-Proven experience with new product launches from pre-study/concept phase through development and commercialization.
-Experience indirectly leading multi-disciplinary engineering project teams.
-Able to work in the absence of complete information, making timely decisions.
-Excellent verbal and written communication.
-Strategic thinker but can execute with great attention to detail.
-Organized and able to progress on many different tasks in parallel.
-Proficiency with structured problem-solving.
-Able to plan, estimate, and accurately track technical deliverables.
-Fundamental understanding of mechanical system design.
-Adaptive, open to change, and continuously looks for ways to improve and simplify complex work.
