BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to join our Integrated Defense Solutions team in an exciting program supporting the U.S. Navy s next generation of strategic deterrence. Serving as one of our Lead Systems Engineers, you will influence a multi-disciplinary team of engineers in developing and implementing a well-planned systems engineering approach to system integration, verification and validation, test, and product support for current and future large-scale missile systems. Job Description:
As a Lead Systems Engineer, your responsibilities span engineering technical authority, leading engineering teams, and customer relationship including:
Engineering Technical Authority
+ Lead independent iterative integration, verification and validation, and test activities based on system requirements verification methods and generate design compliance reports
+ Lead and/or engage with community IPTs / Working Groups / Communities of Practice
+ Lead execution of engineering technical work products in the areas of systems integration, verification and validation, and system test
+ Ensure engineering outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices and that customer and company technical, system, performance, and quality requirements are met
+ Oversee and approve technical documentation, data, presentations, and white paper submissions to customers.
Leading Engineering Teams
+ Assemble, lead, and manage high-performance team focused on delivering engineering products and developing innovative solutions to complex mission and business challenges.
+ Mentor engineers, scientists, technologists, and analysts in the areas of integration, verification, and test to foster technical rigor and consistency across the programs
Customer Relationship Management
+ Establish and maintain exceptional relationships with SES, GS-15, and GS-14 level US Navy customers/clients to solve technical problems and implement solutions of extremely high complexity.
+ Support the customer in the execution of the Systems Engineering process including Systems Engineering technical reviews.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
Minimum education and years of related/relevant years of work experience required: BS degree in engineering or related field and minimum of 12 years of related, proven experience successfully leading system engineering activities across large-scale weapon systems; or a Master of Science in Engineering and minimum of 10 years of related experience.
Additional skills/experience required:
+ 10 years of experience leading DoD/DOE acquisition, engineering services development and execution, and programs sustainment.
+ 10 years of experience supporting acquisition and/or RDTE with submarines or missile systems in a technical leadership role.
+ Thorough understanding and implementation of the end-to-end System Engineering lifecycle.
+ Experience conducting science and technology research, analysis, trade studies, system integration, verification and validation, and test of complex systems.
+ Experience using risk and opportunity management processes throughout the design lifecycle
+ Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and influence multi-disciplinary teams in complex systems engineering across the product development lifecycle.
+ Experience with technical presentations and customer-facing activities at the leadership level.
+ Demonstrated success partnering with customers to understand critical challenges, shape customer requirements, develop innovative solutions, and manage execution of solutions through implementation.
+ Exceptional verbal and written skills with technical emphasis.
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Post-graduate degree in related technical, acquisition, or program management-related discipline.
+ Prior industry experience that afforded opportunities to ensure the safety, security, reliability, and effectiveness of major defense systems such as Trident, Minuteman, or Peacekeeper.
+ Knowledge and experience working in the DoD/DOE technical services industry.
+ Experience in community networking with academia and non-defense agencies.
+ Experience in the planning, development, and execution of adjacent growth market opportunities and business plans.
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
