Lead Systems Engineer Civil and Structural

Position Overview 

The Lead Systems Engineer, Civil and Structural at Marshall Space Flight Center is a key technical leader responsible for overseeing the civil and structural systems that support critical operations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, including environmental and safety regulations, systems integration, and advanced monitoring technologies. The Lead Systems Engineer will maintain cutting-edge expertise in assigned systems, provide strategic advice on system reliability and efficiency, and lead a team of engineers to ensure the mission's success. 

This opportunity is for a POTENTIAL CONTRACT award and is contingent upon the contract being awarded. Consideration for a potential contract may require a signed letter of intent. If the contract is awarded, another position posting will be available on the Company Careers portal. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) 

​​Technical Expertise: Maintain state-of-the-art technical knowledge in civil and structural systems, ensuring compliance with the latest industry standards and practices. Stay informed about related work issues such as environmental and safety requirements, systems integration, and monitoring and metering concepts.  ​Communication with NASA: Regularly update NASA contract and technical monitors on the status of civil and structural systems, including significant developments and key events. Provide clear, accurate reports to ensure all stakeholders are fully informed.  ​Scope and Work Statements: Develop comprehensive scopes of work, detailed specifications, and procurement packages for outsourcing technical consulting, operations, repairs, and other services. Ensure all documentation is precise and tailored to meet the mission's needs.  ​System Performance and Reliability: Offer expert advice on preventive maintenance (PM) and Predictive Testing & Inspection (PT&I) programs, focusing on optimizing system performance, addressing operational deficiencies, and enhancing overall reliability and efficiency.  ​Disposition of Government Equipment: Assess and recommend the disposition of government-owned civil and structural equipment upon failure or obsolescence, ensuring the optimal use of resources and adherence to project goals.  ​Support to RCM Engineer: Collaborate with the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) engineer, providing specialized civil and structural expertise to support the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure.  ​Field Engineering Support: Provide hands-on field engineering support to maintenance and Building Automation System (BAS) technicians, ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical challenges related to civil and structural systems.  ​Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor senior and junior systems engineers, directing their work to ensure cohesive and effective team operations that align with project and mission objectives.​ 

Expected Pay Range:  $150,000 to $190,000 per year
