Lead Tax Accountant

Can be based in either London or Leeds.

JOB PURPOSE

 

As a Lead Tax Accountant at Burberry, you will support the management of tax compliance globally across a number of Burberry entities. The purpose of the role is to provide analysis and preparation of tax reporting, provisions, tax returns and tax compliance, generally including management of third party service providers. The role will report to the Senior Manager, Direct Tax and Technology and may assist other members of the Global Tax Team. 


This Lead Tax Accountant role is offered on a full time, permanent basis and will be based in our Queen Street, Leeds office or our Horseferry House, London office for a minimum of 3 days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Preparation of tax provisions, tax returns and overall tax compliance processes as well as year-end/interim disclosures Monitoring the Group’s outsourced global corporation tax return compliance cycle Reviewing of tax instalments for overseas group entities, engaging with the outsourcing partner and wider Finance teams to ensure tax payments are made on time Supporting the Tax Manager with the preparation of the UK tax returns prepared in-house, encompassing RDEC and capital allowances projects  Providing technical assistance to the wider Finance teams in reviewing tax disclosures within local statutory accounts and supporting local audit activities Partnering with local Commercial Finance teams to provide assistance to preparation of year end and interim tax provisions, and review of all Group tax submissions Preparing CBCR calculations and correspond with international teams regarding local CBCR filings Supporting with analysis, modelling and preparation for Pillar 2 compliance Preparing total tax contribution disclosures and completing TTC questionnaires Partnering with transfer pricing colleagues to ensure all intercompany transactions are priced accordingly in statutory accounts and tax returns Identifying new opportunities to standardise and/or prepare tax returns in a more effective and efficient manner, including use of tax technology tools where possible Assisting with explanations for external auditors relating to tax provisions Providing support to the wider tax team on group projects as required PERSONAL PROFILE

 

Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) or tax advisor (CTA) Experience in accountancy and tax compliance, ideally from industry with an international/cross-border remit Hands-on exposure with IFRS, Statutory Accounts and Local GAAP adjustments Some knowledge of transfer pricing concepts Proficient in Microsoft Excel and wider Office suite  Working knowledge of SAP useful  Excellent communication skills & fluent in English (both verbal & written) Highly organised, comfortable in working to deadlines within a commercial environment  Capable of analysing relevant information, identifying key issues and communicating findings clearly
