JOB TITLE: Lead Teacher
DIVISION: Learning Center
REPORTS TO: Director of Education
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Lead Teacher is responsible for monitoring and providing support to the instructional area, ensuring that teachers are practicing good instructional management. When Directors are unavailable or not in the Center, the Lead Teacher serves as the point-of-contact for teaching staff and manages Center operations, ensuring a high quality personal customer experience. Lead Teacher communicates staff performance, customer issues, and student progress to the Center’s Director(s). Lead Teacher also delivers instruction as needed.

Monday-Thursday 4:30-7:30
Saturday 9:30-12:30
June 3rd-August 3rd 2024 added Instructional Hours:
Monday-Friday 9:30-12:30 (mornings)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manages teachers, tasks and time to create balanced and robust instructional sessions
Monitors staff to ensure teachers deliver instruction as designed and that educational Center policies and procedures are followed
Attends to immediate instructor needs, such as requests for materials or assistance with instruction
Assumes teacher responsibilities in emergency scheduling or capacity situations
Assists teachers with preparation for instruction; Gathers materials as appropriate
Observes and coaches teachers on a regular basis
Checks students in and out of the Center
Greets and assists students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards with particular attention to student safety and well-being
Opens and closes the Center according to procedures, securing all materials
Fields inquiry calls, takes payments, updates schedules, and books appointments for Directors
Escalates service or other issues that require Director intervention
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Four year degree or equivalent required
One to two years teaching experience preferred
Experience using Microsoft Office and other standard business applications used by the Center
Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones
Knowledge of iPad and tablet computers preferred

Strong organizational skills; Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible

Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds
