Pinnacle Solutions is looking for a Lead Technical Writer to be an integral member of our Training Systems Engineering and Development team. The Lead Technical Writer will work with product developers and lead a team to research, write, and edit deliverable technical publications, configuration documentation, and Integrated Logistics Support documentation for Pinnacle products. Publications include Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) in the form of operation and maintenance manuals, preventive maintenance systems, instructor utilization handbooks, COTS manuals, and other ILS/configuration documentation as required by the contract. Responsibilities Researches, writes, edits and proofreads technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style Assists in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations Retrieves, organizes, analyzes and synthesizes subject matter and transforms it into easy-to-understand information Creates or revises hardware or software product documentation, which includes installation, operation and maintenance instructions and other technical publications such as technical advisories and release notes Performs work with a high degree of latitude Handles the most complex issues Possesses expert knowledge of subject matter Will act as a lead Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, or Engineering (with Technical Writing and/or Integrated Logistics Support experience). 7 years of technical writing experience required Ability to collect, research, organize, and synthesize material from inspection of systems, engineering documentation, and oral discussions with personnel responsible for trainer systems Ability to understand and follow contractual requirements and work with stakeholders to clarify and refine those requirements when ambiguous or open to interpretation Experience developing technical documentation of software architectures and tools Ability to sustain customer rapport and interact well within a team environment Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed appropriately High proficiency in using MS Office, Visio, HTML documentation, XML (Arbortext or Oxygen), and Adobe Acrobat Strong, demonstrated team leadership skills Strong, demonstrated project management skills Must be a United States citizen Required to communicate in English Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense security clearance Employee/selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (as required) The ability to travel to installation sites to support own project requirements for documentation validation and verification with customers, meetings, and other program events Desired Qualifications: 10 years of experience as a technical writer and at least 8 years of management experience Technical writing experience in the simulation industry is preferred Technical writing experience in Department of Defense, Military or Aviation Standards is preferred Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Adobe Illustrator is preferred Logistics experience providing maintainability/reliability analysis for customers is preferred Experience with content management and program tasking via Jira/Confluence, Microsoft Teams, and/or other online collaborative platforms Job ID 2025-16057 Work Type On-Site Company Description Work Where it Matters Pinnacle Solutions, an Akima company, is not just another federal contractor.
