Performs MRI exams and procedures on patients of all ages. Maintains patient safety. Assumes lead technical responsibilities. **Responsibilities:** + Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, supervises and coordinates work activities of assigned personnel. + Schedules work assignments and prepares master schedule. + May perform payroll time sheet for employees. + Trains, counsels, disciplines, and evaluates performance of employees. + Assists with interviewing applicants and recommends selection. + Maintains procedure manual and communicates changes to staff. + Assists with all policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law. + Assists with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.). + Assists with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements. + Ensures and maintains quality control in regards to patient care and equipment usage. + Ensures quality assurance tests are performed daily/weekly and all policies and procedures are adhered to. + Provides technical direction with complex cases and problem solving. + Schedules routine preventative maintenance on equipment to meet safety and regulatory standards. Instructs other area personnel in Radiation Protection, as needed, and ensures their safety. + Prepares and checks patients prior to MRI procedure. + Acquires patient questionnaire, chart, data/requisition and reviews all to determine contraindication of having MRI examination. + Verifies and validates patient screening safety form. + Performs MRI procedures required per protocol and performs daily QA. + Performs venipunctures as necessary and maintains competencies. + Educates patients regarding MRI procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation. + Ensures patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam. + May assist with scheduling of patients as needed. + Administers proper contrast related to patient having MRI exam. + Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting and printing images via PACS. + When applicable, knowledgeable in after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. + Immediately reports any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. + Observes potential equipment dysfunctions and reports problems to appropriate individuals calling for service as required. + Maintains available equipment up-time at the highest level for patient accessibility. + Knowledgeable in billing via RIS. + Provides instruction/mentoring to new hires and Radiology Students. + Continually strives to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions. + May be required to rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations. Other duties as assigned. **Education:** + Must have one of the following: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology, graduate of an accredited school in Sonography or Radiation Therapy, or possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or certification from CAHEA approved Nuclear Medicine Technology training program. ​ **Certifications:** + Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), or R.T.(S)(ARRT), or R.T.(T)(ARRT), in good standing. Or must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(N) (ARRT) in good standing or be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board. + Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging: R.T.(MR)(ARRT). + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. **Complexity of Work:** + Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes. + Ability to communicate well with Radiologists and physicians to coordinate proper imaging of patients. + Strong communication skills are essential to provide excellent care to patients and families. + Ability to function well with minimal or no direct supervision. **Work Experience:** + Minimum two years of recent modality experience. + Ability to direct, evaluate and supervise others. **Physical Requirements:** + Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily. + Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
