As a Lead Test Engineer with Tektronix, you will perform duties to conduct specified environmental tests of any range of products or devices for commercial, military, medical or consumer customers, within the limitations of standard methods and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Gather and set up the required fixtures for temperature or dynamics type testing. Follow procedures to conduct the test. Secure the product according to test plan. Observe and monitor products under test. Change charts, document unusual circumstances and consult with engineer. Ensure that data is being collected accurately. Review the results, determine if product passed or failed each test, and sign off on the test plan. Read electrical circuits to determine basic electrical requirements. Solder test cables on to product under test; apply current per test plan, and record data reflecting results. Work from test plans, purchase orders, tables, charts, drawings, lab sheets, standards, specifications and instructions. Log into project in computer system. Review the test plans and customer requirements and select the proper test procedures and specifications for vibration, temperature, humidity, shock, various atmospheric conditions, or combined environments. Determine the fixturing and test sets required. Order and maintain environmental testing supplies. May perform routine preventive maintenance or minor repairs on test equipment or interact with vendor providing maintenance services to explain problems. May fabricate fixtures for use in specific test procedures as necessary. Organize charts, prepare labor sheets, and data to ensure documentation is in compliance with procedures. Present results to engineer for sign off. Create certificate of compliance, sign and log out of project time charging system. Create Environmental Test Reports as required. Communicate with customers regarding status of tests or to receive parts for testing. Work closely with the Customer Support Specialist and the Lab Manager in evaluating new test profiles supplied by clients. Work closely with the Customer Support Specialist and/or Lab Manager along with the Dynamics machinist to develop new or modify older fixtures as needed to perform testing with successful results. Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies. Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition. Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies. Managerial duties:
This position has no managerial duties; however, it is responsible for mentoring and overseeing the work being performed by Environmental Technicians throughout the lab as needed. Project scheduling and on time deliverables to meet financial projections.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in a technical field or background in engineering (preferred). Experience with mechanical testing, vibration and shock testing. Experience with Fungus, package testing a plus. Familiarity with Mil Spec Standards for Testing. Prior Lead Technician or supervisor experience a plus. Proficiency in mechanical assembly, troubleshooting, and repair. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation. Strong analytical skills for data collection, analysis, and reporting. Proficiency in computer applications, including data acquisition software and Microsoft Office. Basic engineering math and calculation skills.Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot test setups. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with engineers and technicians. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Creativity and adaptability in developing test setups and procedures.
