Job OverviewAs a Learning Experience Designer, you design awesome learning experiences across several modalities that prepare our associates to deliver best-in-class experiences for our guests, our residents, and for each other. You develop courses, materials, guides, and other training content that empower learners in new ways and get them engaged and excited to learn more. Here are the roles you’ll play:

Roles You Will PlayThe Visionary
Partner with project stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand training needs and business problems that need to be solved.Use a variety of techniques to define and sequence the instructional content and strategies.Focus on creating instruction that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners and groups of learners; work with colleagues to develop learning solutions for remote learners.Build dynamic and engaging training designs while adhering to Cortland branding guidelines.Collaborate with stakeholders and subject-matter experts as necessary to gather topic knowledge and to determine goals, audience, and project scope.Work with other designers to execute on your vision and meet the business needs of the sponsor and stakeholders.
The Designer
Create a wide range of deliverables, including PowerPoint templates, e-learning modules, and graphics for videos, gamification, and blended learning solutions.Work with different stakeholders to design content specifically catered to their unique needs.Take the lead on the needs analysis, design, and development of training materials and visuals.Hold audiences’ attention and engage learners by creating an experience that tells a compelling story and promotes an interactive experience through e-learning, instructor-led training, video or blended solutions.
The Brand Champion
Make our training materials look as eye-catching as possible by identifying the best layouts for illustrative material and collaborating with the Internal Communications and Content team to support a variety of formats and devices.Come up with graphic styles that most effectively fit the overarching design parameters given by our company brand guidelines.Push the envelope to create one-of-a-kind images that align with the company brand and the Talent Engagement strategy.Track learning projects using project management software.

Building Blocks of Success Strong 3+ years of experience in an instructional design or LXD capacity with a proven track record of creating educational content that helps associates learn and retain concepts and skills. Portfolio required for consideration.Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, technical writing, instructional or graphic design, related field, or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.Instructional Design Certification a plus.Experience using eLearning authoring tools and software (Camtasia, Articulate Storyline/Rise, PowerPoint, etc.).Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects).Excellent attention to detail that includes the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills plus cultural adeptness to influence leaders and effectively tailor communications across all levels of our organization.Ability to translate complex concepts into an easy-to-understand and digestible format.
