Leave of Absence & Disabilities Specialist
Description We are offering a contract to possible permanent employment opportunity in the non-profit industry, based in Salem, Oregon. The role of a Leave of Absence & Disabilities Specialist involves managing leave of absence, disability, and accommodation services, ensuring a compliant and smooth experience. The individual will be instrumental in supporting an inclusive staff culture and maintaining attendance and service delivery. Responsibilities: • Facilitate regular case review sessions with HR Management to identify and execute strategies for resolution. • Monitor compliance with agency policies, state and federal regulations, and processing requirements. • Manage tracking and communications for various types of employee leaves of absences. • Guide employees and supervisors through the entire leave and accommodations request process. • Advise stakeholders on the interaction of leave laws with different types of leave and benefits. • Facilitate the Disabilities Accommodation Request process and the Interactive Dialogue process with staff and managers. • Identify leave obligations with disability time-off and workers compensation cases, and administer relevant documents and records. • Perform research for the implementation of accommodations using various resources. • Maintain timesheet data entry and transactions that are required for employment and payroll records. • Run reports to calculate eligibility for leave and provide options to the employee. • Review and modify job descriptions as needed. • Issue relevant notices, forms, and letters to staff according to policies and HR processes. • Issue leave approval/denial letters and distribute Disability Accommodation Approvals and Denials documents. • Track leave dates, schedules, and medical documents, and maintain regular communication with employees throughout the leave process. • Work closely with Benefits Specialist to ensure benefit payments are deducted properly. • Oversee the Return to Work process. • Proactively provide leave information to employees that have experience in a leave. • Provide education and training for managers and other HR staff regarding the rules, policies, and processes that pertain to leaves of absences and disabilities.
