Leaves & Accommodations Lead Specialist
Hybrid role (onsite at any one of our plant locations 3 days per week)
SUMMARY
This position provides guidance on day-to-day workflow activities to the Leaves and Accommodations team. The position performs a high volume of administrative tasks associated with determining the eligibility of various types of employee leave and reasonable accommodation requests. This position will include human resource data entry for all locations in the appropriate HR systems. Duties include but are not limited to: Initial point of contact for Leave Specialists answering questions and guidance on workflow activities. Support Leaves and Accommodations Manager and Leaves and Accommodations Administer with projects. Frequent contact with team members, managers, and other HR professionals; answering questions related to leaves or accommodations; managing leaves or accommodations; and partnering with HR, management, and/or legal to appropriately manage all leaves and accommodation requests. This position also works directly with third party administrators regarding employee leave programs. Must be able to demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, prioritize, independent judgement and coordinate tasks to meet deadlines. This position requires excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication skills, and decision-making. A complete understanding of leave offerings and its applications are required to perform the job.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Answer inquiries and provide accurate and timely feedback to employees, all levels of management, and third-party administrators. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality relative to team member and company information. Schedule and distribute daily workflow to Leaves and Accommodations team. Ability to work with details, complexity and follow through. Review and determine eligibility for various types of leave and designates appropriate status. Assist Leave Specialists as a resource for analyzing and resolving issues. Review and determine Company responses for accommodation requests in partnership with management, occupational health, and legal. Maintains strong working knowledge of relevant federal leave and accommodation laws and company policies. Maintains strong working knowledge of state and local leave regulations and state insurance programs such as state disability insurance and paid family leave insurance. Provide ongoing communication of leave status to team members, management, and HR stakeholders. Completes related transactions utilizing various systems: HCM, UKG, Service Now, and vendor systems. Responsible for administering leave programs for a multi-site, multi-state organization. Use the human resource information system (HRIS) to collect information, answer questions, and complete leave processing. Accurately and efficiently manage high volumes of phone calls/walk-ups, data entry including team member and leave data into the human resource information system. Collaborate with HR stakeholders at all manufacturing locations and Pella owned subsidiaries to assure the accuracy and completeness of all data. Assure transactions comply with corporate policies, governing regulations, and compliance guidelines. Explains company and governmental rules, regulations, and associated procedures for compliance. Provides training for Leaves and Accommodations Specialists. Assist team with metrics reporting. Depending on work location, may fulfill other HR responsibilities onsite. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. 2 plus years' experience in Leave management, leave related employment law, customer service or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous leadership experience preferred. Previous HRIS or similar system experience preferred.

REASONING ABILITY

COMPUTER SKILLS
Word, Excel, and Power Point. PeopleSoft, UKG and Fusion or other similar system experience preferred. Ability to learn and utilize third party administrator web tools. Microsoft Power Platform experience a plus. Knowledge of relational database systems a plus.
