Position description DESCRIPTION: Full-time lecturer for the UCLA Minor in Biomedical Research, an interdisciplinary minor housed within the Division of Life Sciences. The Minor is designed to give motivated students the opportunity to incorporate life science research into their college education as early as possible, and to provide a comprehensive training environment for their scientific development. We seek an individual with a strong background in biomedical research and a passion for undergraduate education. DUTIES: Provide instruction and participate in innovative course development for lower division courses and/or upper division seminar courses, and assist in direct mentorship of undergraduate researchers. For examples of our pedagogy, please see Clark et al. (2009) PLoS Biology 7(12), e1000264, and Call et al. (2007) Genetics 177: 689-697. TERM OF APPOINTMENT: Fall 2025, Winter 2026 and/or Spring 2026 quarters. Hiring is contingent upon approval of funding. DEADLINE: Review of applications will begin immediately. All applications will be considered until all positions are filled Qualifications Basic qualifications Ph.D. degree in a molecular or cellular life science discipline; experience in undergraduate teaching at a university level; demonstrated skill in teaching undergraduate research-based laboratories at a university level or ability to conduct undergraduate seminars based on current biomedical research; experience mentoring undergraduate students in issues related to biomedical research. Experience with innovative teaching methodologies essential. Must be able to create classroom content using current research literature in lieu of a textbook.
