Recruitment/Posting Title Lecturer - Bioinformatics, Spring 2025 Department SEBS-Plant Biology Salary Salary per Credit Posting Summary The Biotechnology Undergraduate Program in the Department of Plant Biology at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Rutgers University invites applicants for a Part time Lecturer teaching position on the New Brunswick/Cook Campus for Spring 2025. The position will be responsible for teaching a course called Bioinformatics. This course is an introduction to the basics of algorithms used to cast problems of molecular biology in terms of bioinformatics.  Largely Python-based, it will teach bioinformatics concepts, principles, and techniques within the framework of basic shell scripting and web-based databases/tools.  Students are expected to have a basic background in computer science and data structures, know how to work in a command-line environment and have a basic understanding of programming/ scripting.  A graduate level version of the course should also be offered with extra requirements for graduate students.
The successful candidate will report to the Undergraduate Program Director in Biotechnology and the Department Chair in Plant Biology, and will be required to administer and instruct the course, including a computer terminal-based dry laboratory on the Rutgers campus.
