**FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT**
Hunter College of The City University of New York invites applications for a Doctoral Lecturer position. This position reports to the Hunter College Provost.
**Responsibilities:**
Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for the position of Doctoral Lecturer and Director of the Human Rights Program. We seek a human rights expert, preferably with experience working in a college environment, to lead an interdisciplinary program in Human Rights, which is housed at Hunter College's Roosevelt House Institute for Public Policy. Hunter College aspires to be a convening authority on human rights by bringing together scholars, students, practitioners, policy makers, and the public. The Director will participate in strategic planning to help achieve this vision, teach in and coordinate the academic program, conduct teaching observations, spearhead curriculum development and faculty and student engagement, and devise and execute programming that engages the community of experts and the public and fuels the curriculum. The program is overseen by a Policy and Curriculum Committee, composed of five faculty members from different departments in the College who are affiliated with the program, and the Program Director. This position reports currently to the Provost at Hunter College.
Hunter’s Human Rights Program offers students opportunities to fulfill the requirements for a 15-credit minor and a more advanced 24-credit certificate in Human Rights. The Human Rights Program Director teaches courses in the program, provides academic advising and guidance to students, and works closely with the PCC in the planning and development of new courses.
They also develop extra-curricular activities for students to encourage civic engagement outside the classroom (e.g., meetings with government officials and leaders of local, state, federal and international organizations, such as the U.N., as well as leaders of non-governmental organizations), and teach the required course students must take to fulfill requirements for the minor.
The Doctoral Lecturer is responsible for running existing internship programs and developing new ones. They also work closely with the Director of Roosevelt House and the programming curator to develop relevant human rights public programs, given by faculty and human rights professionals whose work in human rights is international, transnational, national, state, and/or local in human rights, and also publicizing them at Hunter College and in the wider community.
Finally, the Doctoral Lecturer takes the lead in recruiting and working with students for the minor and certificate, as well as faculty associates, offering support for research initiatives and scholars and from other centers based at Roosevelt House. Hunter College has both a teaching and a research mission. Responsibilities associated with this position fall within the purview of its teaching mission, although research experience is highly valued.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
An advanced degree (PhD or law degree preferred) and a record of achievement in scholarship, a profession and/or field of expertise relevant to human rights. Teaching experience and field or academic work experience addressing human rights issues is required.
**COMPENSATION**
CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. The compensation for this position is up to $98,503, possibly higher salary depending on available funds and qualifications. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.
