The selected candidate will be appointed to a 9-month, non-tenure-eligible faculty position for an initial two-year period that has the potential for renewal and for promotion to Senior Lecturer after five years. Duties will include teaching beginning and intermediate ASL (in person), student mentoring, and departmental service, as well as curricular and program development for our growing ASL program. We seek applicants who wish to establish a long term teaching career in our department, a dynamic academic unit committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue among faculty with diverse geographical interests, theoretical concerns, and methodological approaches.Candidates must have at minimum, an M.A. degree in ASL or ASL Education (certification from the ASLTA will be prioritized); native or near-native proficiency in ASL; experience teaching at the university level and using instructional technology; knowledge of research and best practices in Deaf Culture; and a desire to be part of the intellectual life of the university.
