Binghamton University seeks a full-time Lecturer to teach classical ballet and contemporary dance technique, beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. The successful applicant will teach a 3 course per semester load with an initial contract of up to 3 years, which may be renewable. In addition to Classical Ballet, contemporary dance knowledge should include expertise in one or more Modern Dance technique. African Dance, Latin dance or other international dance styles would be welcome additional fields of expertise. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative artist-teacher, whose creative activity, teaching skills and professional experience will contribute to the diversity and equity of the University. The department is committed to providing opportunities to increase participation in classes and productions by students of color and other marginalized communities.
Binghamton offers both a Bachelor of Arts in theatre, with concentrations in acting/directing, design/technical theatre, and dance, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre. Because Binghamton students are notable for their high-achieving academic record, they seek to explore dramaturgical and artistic depth in whatever theatre program they pursue. In addition to performance courses in a wide range of techniques, students audition for main stage and studio productions ranging from the classical to the contemporary, including musicals, plays, and dance productions.
The lecturer will teach beginning and intermediate dance to students in the BA Theater degree, the BFA in musical theatre, and to non-majors. This person may also teach courses based on their specialties and areas of interest. Members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

+ Expertise in teaching a contemporary dance style
+ A BA/BS/BFA in Dance by August 18, 2025
+ Significant professional dance experience
+ Significant educational theatre dance or conservatory teaching experience
+ Inclusive teaching and mentorship that will help make dance and movement accessible to a broad range of student abilities
+ Commitment to safe dance practices
Preferred Qualifications:
+ MFA
+ Specialization in an additional dance area
+ Choreographic Experience
