Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job The Department of Communication Studies at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a one-year renewable full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of lecturer to begin in the Fall 2025 semester . The teaching load is four courses, usually in face-to-face format, in both fall and spring semesters. Occasionally, online course sections might become available. Summer courses are not included in the teaching load. Service expectation consists of department events and committees. Educational Requirements for the Position Applicants must have at least a Master’s degree in Communication Studies or Speech Communication, although preference will be given to candidates who have a PhD. Candidates are expected to have degrees from an accredited university or institution of higher learning and have their degrees in hand at the time of hire. Experience Required for the Position Minimum 1 year college level teaching experience.
Mandatory face-to-face and online teaching experience.
Preference given to those with experience teaching Public Speaking and Communication for Business & Professions courses.Preference given to those a record of departmental service.
Service learning/community engagement experience is a bonus.
