Contact Phone 936-294-1398 Contact Email dcd024@shsu.edu Position Details Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job The Lecturer-Pool Faculty will teach undergraduate or graduate courses within one or more of the Department of Kinesiology degree programs, dependent upon an applicant’s academic background, experience, and licensure. Pool faculty contracts are for one semester based on departmental needs but may be renewed based on performance and need. Departmental need is driven by student enrollment and internal workload commitments.

Areas to select from include: a) Athletic Training, b) Coaching c) Exercise Science, d) Motor Behavior, e) Sport Management, or f) Sport Psychology/Sociology. Educational Requirements for the Position It is required that candidates have a minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Sport Management or a related field for lower-level course offerings. Doctoral degree preferred from an accredited institution in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Sport Management or a related field for graduate course offerings. Candidates must have their degree completed by their contract start date. Experience Required for the Position Professional experience and/or certifications in the specific area is preferred.
Other Requirements for the Position Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience is preferred. Travel to SHSU Campuses in Huntsville, TX, Conroe, TX, and/or The Woodlands, TX are required for some positions, typically 2-3 days/week. Experience in online teaching and online training and certificates required for those who will teach online courses. Certifications (ATC) and Licensure (LAT) are required for those teaching in the MSAT program.

With a population of roughly 40,000 (excluding SHSU), Huntsville offers the simplicity of small-town life and easy access to surrounding larger cities including Conroe (where the College of Osteopathic Medicine is located), The Woodlands (where the School of Nursing and The Woodlands Center is located), and Bryan/College Station. Full of Texas history and charm, this county seat is home to multiple museums, annual festivities, antique stores, year-round outdoor activities, vineyards, golf courses, lakes, and a beautiful state park.
