Lecturer - Psychology - Direct Support Professional
Location: Farmingdale, NY Category: Faculty Posted On: Fri Aug 23 2024 Job Description: Farmingdale State College invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in Psychology to support the new Direct Support Professional (DSP) Microcredential program. The DSP microcredential supports the academic and career success of Direct Support Professionals across New York State. The successful candidate is expected to have a Master-level degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Education, Early Childhood, or Psychology. The successful candidate will teach 6 contact hours per semester and will receive 9 credits of release time to provide wrap-around services for students enrolled in the microcredential. Additionally, lecturers are required to hold 5 office hours per week. Additional responsibilities include advisement, departmental service, as well as curriculum review and development. Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Master-Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Education, Early Childhood, or Psychology. + Experience working with adult learners. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor. + Two-Years of College-Level Teaching. + Experience working as a Direct Support Professional. + Experience working as an academic coach. + Bilingual.
