About the department
The Legal and Compliance Department of Novo Nordisk Local Manufacturing Tehran (LMT) is dedicated to ensuring that our organization complies with all legal and regulatory requirements. Our team provides legal counsel and support across various areas, including corporate law, business litigation, transactions/antitrust, compliance, intellectual property, employment/labor, real estate, tax, corporate governance, and ethics. We work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, collaborating closely with different departments to protect and leverage the organization’s key assets and interests.
The position
As Legal and Compliance Counsel, you will assume the responsibility for supporting and assisting the Legal and Compliance (L&C) Manager within these three pivotal areas: Legal Function, Compliance and Business Ethics Functions and Sanctions and Export Control Functions.
Other duties and responsibilities include the following:
Provide reliable legal support to the Line of Business (LoB), ensuring compliance with all relevant local and internal laws, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.Support LMT departments on-site or remotely as needed, review drafts, and assist in negotiating contracts and agreements, as well as keeping and improving all legal and compliance databases, including physical and electronic.Assist with employment issues, collaborate with external legal counsels, and train LMT employees on legal issues.Serve as the point-of-contact for authorities and to be present before local authorities as a “legal representative” of the company, if required, and supporting LMT in identifying legal risks and reporting to the L&C Manager, as well as implementation of risk-preventive actions and control measures in alignment with L&C Manager.To ensure effective implementation of and adherence to compliance and business ethics policies, strategies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), providing high-quality business ethics trainings, advice, and supporting internal and external stakeholders and business partners, identifying business ethics risks and support for controlling the risks, investigating and reporting breaches and violations, and serve as the Data Privacy Responsible (DPR) of LMT.Qualifications
Licensed Attorney will be an added advantageGood working experience/expertise/knowledge in Domestic Law/Civil Law, Law Degree/Master’s degree in the relevant areas from a high-ranked law school,4-5 years of experience; 2 years of which is working in a multinational company or international setting, an added advantage.Extensive knowledge of production units’ issues, including labor law and business transactions in a manufacturing site, coupled with in-depth experience in Business Ethics and Compliance in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry.Effective communication, business understanding, stakeholder management, and independence and team player attitude with assertiveness.Knowledge of codes of conduct, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and UK Anti-Bribery Act, as well as experience with change management and business partnering, preferred but not required.Fluency in both verbal and written English is essential.Working at Novo Nordisk
