Legal Assistant
Description We are looking for a diligent Legal Assistant to join our team in GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan. The role involves handling intellectual property and administrative duties in a fast-paced environment. This is a short term contract employment opportunity. Responsibilities: • Preparing and filing various types of patent applications, including provisional, utility, design, continuation, divisional, and National Stage patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). • Assisting in the preparation and filing of Information Disclosure Statements. • Communicating effectively with clients to obtain necessary documents for completing U.S. and international application processes. • Utilizing USPTO and other intellectual property internet websites to research and compile data on U.S. and international patent applications and trademarks. • Assisting in the preparation of patent and trademark searches and filing trademark applications and responses with the USPTO. • Managing and monitoring a daily docket, drafting correspondence, maintaining electronic files, and scheduling appointments. • Processing new client matters and maintaining accurate customer records. • Using Adobe Acrobat and Case Management Software for various tasks. • Handling Calendar Management and Intellectual Property related tasks. • Performing dictation tasks as needed. Requirements • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat for creating, editing, and managing PDF documents. • Skilled in the use of Case Management Software for organizing and tracking legal cases. • Strong Calendar Management abilities to schedule and keep track of appointments, deadlines, and tasks. • Knowledge of Intellectual Property laws and regulations. • Ability to perform Dictation tasks for transcribing spoken words into written form. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. • Familiarity with legal terminologies and procedures. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
