Description
We are ready to onboard a Legal Assistant at our Washington, DC location. The role involves managing legal documentation and handling client project support tasks. This role is part of the legal industry, and it is a great chance to work within a detail-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage document production efficiently using Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Proofread and correct legal documents marked up by attorneys.
• Ensure the finalization of documents for signature, by verifying details like names, pagination, and running TOCs.
• Download statutes in Lexis as per given citation.
• Process signed documents from clients following firm guidelines.
• Carry out correspondence tasks.
• Edit legal documents such as wills, estates, and trusts.
• Manage the billing process for 2-3 attorneys using Juris, including time input and learning the billing system.
• Generate monthly bills and produce reports for the same.
• Handle minor travel management tasks.
• Oversee expense management, including notifying the accounting department of the charges and whether they should be passed onto a client.
• Provide support on client projects, such as filings with local jurisdictions, preparing for client meetings, and other document-based support tasks like compiling binders, filings, and using a filing system

Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role
• Proficiency in billing functions and financial transactions related to legal services
• Strong skills in calendar management, including scheduling meetings, court appearances, and deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with clients and legal professionals
• Familiarity with law office procedures, legal terminology, and court processes
• Ability to prepare legal documents and correspondence with high accuracy
• Proficiency in using legal software and other office equipment.
