Legal Assistant
Description We are seeking a Legal Assistant in Tampa, Florida, to join our team. The role involves a wide range of administrative and clerical duties to support our legal team. You will be expected to manage legal documents, facilitate communication between attorneys and other parties, and ensure compliance with firm procedures. Responsibilities: • Handle administrative tasks for attorneys and paralegals, such as preparing conflict checks, receiving reports, and answering queries from different departments. • Create, revise, and maintain legal documents and correspondence, applying regular edits. • Screen telephone calls and act as a liaison between attorneys and others inside and outside the firm, providing detail oriented customer service. • Perform clerical functions such as copying documents and maintaining filing systems. • Manage attorney schedules and coordinate travel arrangements. • Prepare and assemble error-free final documents, ensuring timely delivery to all recipients. • Coordinate the filing of documents with courts or government agencies, including electronic filing of approved documents as directed. • Maintain a contact list and calendar, and manage appointments, depositions, and resource scheduling. • Handle mail duties, including opening, stamping, and sorting, and noting dates for the calendar. • Retrieve files and documents as needed, and manage the boxing and closing of files. • Conduct internet-based factual research as directed. • Assist others in the office based on work priorities, promoting teamwork and mutual cooperation. Requirements • Proficiency in the Aderant software is required for this role. • Applicants must have experience working with Adobe Acrobat. • Familiarity with the Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS) is essential. • Demonstrable experience in using Case Management Software is necessary. • Knowledge of CompuLaw will be a distinct advantage. • Candidates must be able to handle billing functions efficiently. • The ability to conduct and compile briefings is a must. • Applicants should be adept at calendar management. • Experience in claim administration is vital for this role. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
