Legal Assistant
Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Legal Assistant in Chicago, Illinois, United States. As a Legal Assistant, your role will involve a comprehensive understanding of litigation filing along with a strong focus on calendaring and document management. Your responsibilities will also include preparing legal documents such as notices of motions, summons, and subpoenas, and managing billing and scheduling tasks. Responsibilities: • Handle e-filing tasks with a general understanding of litigation filing • Manage scheduling and billing processes • Prepare a variety of legal documents, including notices of motions, summons, and subpoenas • Maintain an organized calendar • Filter incoming email traffic and send out correspondence as required • Utilize a document management system, preferably iManage • Possess a background in bankruptcy and commercial litigation, with a bonus for understanding real estate litigation and title insurance • Manage client relations and communications effectively • Use various skills and software, such as Aderant, Adobe Acrobat, Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS), Case Management Software, CompuLaw, and others to perform tasks efficiently. Requirements • Proficiency in using Aderant software for legal practice management. • Proficiency in using Adobe Acrobat for document management. • Knowledge of Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS) for property registration processes. • Experience with Case Management Software for managing legal cases and client information. • Proficiency in using CompuLaw for calendar and case management. • Ability to carry out billing functions with accuracy and efficiency. • Experience in calendar management, ensuring all important dates and deadlines are met. • Skills in claim administration, including the preparation, filing, and tracking of claims. • Strong client relations skills, with the ability to build and maintain detail oriented relationships. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear and effective interaction with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
