Legal Assistant
Description We are in search of a Legal Assistant for our team located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. This role primarily revolves around providing essential support to attorneys by managing the details of lawsuits and legal proceedings. The Legal Assistant will be a pivotal part of the team, ensuring smooth progression of cases and contributing to successful results. This position offers a short term contract employment opportunity. Responsibilities: • Efficiently conducting legal research using various online databases and legal resources to identify relevant case law, statutes, and regulations • Assisting attorneys in the creation of legal documents, which might include pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests • Preparing summaries of witness testimonies and timelines of events • Organizing and maintaining case files comprising of legal documents, evidence, and correspondence • Keeping track of court deadlines, depositions, and meetings on the calendar • Regularly updating attorneys about the progress of cases • Preparing exhibits and presentations for trials • Regular interaction with clients to collect information, answer their queries, and provide updates on their cases • Scheduling client meetings and assisting attorneys in preparing for client consultations • Ensuring accuracy and clarity of legal documents by proofreading and editing them • Managing attorneys' calendars and schedules • Coordinating travel and accommodations for attorneys and witnesses • Executing other administrative tasks as required. Requirements • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat is required for the role of Legal Assistant. • Familiarity with the Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS) is a must. • Proficient in using Case Management Software to manage and streamline legal cases. • Ability to handle Billing Functions efficiently and accurately. • Experience in Calendar Management to schedule meetings, court dates, and deadlines. • Skilled in Claim Administration to manage and process legal claims. • Strong skills in maintaining detail-oriented relations with clients. • Excellent Communication skills to clearly convey legal information to clients and team members. • Proficient in Litigation processes, including preparing and filing legal documents. • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant is required for this role.
