Legal Assistant - Trusts and Estates

 

Our client is a leading mid-sized law firm with offices nationwide, with a specific focus on the east coast. They are currently seeking a full time, experienced Legal Assistant for their Uniondale office to assist attorneys within the Trusts and Estates practice. This is a hybrid role and candidates will be in the office 3 days a week/2 days remote from 9am-5pm with the flexibility to work overtime when needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Keeping cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; entering information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney. Answering telephone calls; maintaining client contact; scheduling meetings, Assisting attorneys with creating, formatting, and revising retainer letters and other legal documents. Straight typing, proofreading work for accuracy prior to returning to attorneys. Maintaining attorney schedules. Entering attorney time using Expert Time. Submitting expense and reimbursement reports using Chrome River. Managing and prioritize incoming email and correspondence. Scanning and e-mailing documents. E-Filing Attending Will signings Exhibiting patience, empathy, and professional maturity at all times. Demonstrating an attitude of cooperation with legal staff, peers, and administrators.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Have a minimum of 5+ years of law firm experience and a background in the areas of Trusts and Estates.  Be proactive and able to assist with the preparation of legal documents, including Wills, Trusts, Health Care Proxies, Living Wills and Powers of Attorney and provide attorneys with administrative support. Candidate should enjoy working with clients and their families and pride themselves on attention to detail and organization. Be able to type 55+ wpm and have excellent spelling, grammar and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and work both independently and as a team member. Experience with NetDocs a plus.
